Effect of Acupressure on Low Back Pain Intensity and Depression in Patients with Chronic Nonspecific Low Back Pain

Background: Low back pain (LBP) is the leading cause of disability in world. This study aimed to evaluate effect acupressure on LBP intensity and depression among chronic nonspecific patients. Methods: sham-controlled randomized clinical trial was performed 84 patients with LBP. The data were collected using a demographic information questionnaire, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II). participants randomly assigned (n = 42) sham groups. group trained how apply pressure Yin tang, Feng Chi, Shu Fu acupoints; nevertheless, Chen Jiang, Huang Shu, Ji ache acupoints. both groups applied once day for 4 weeks. Both completed VAS BDI-II again one after intervention. Results: No significant differences (P 0.45) 0.26) observed between two before By controlling baseline scores depression, analysis covariance revealed that significantly improved intervention, compared < 0.05). Conclusions: Applying Fu, Tang, Chi points effective reducing findings this can be used designing evaluating more robust protocols.
